Note to My Wife
In the pitch black I see nothing,
but the touch of your skin
is sufficient, as is the smell
of your bath soap, and
the softness of your breathing.
When morning comes,
your face will light my day,
the way you glide across
the room will stir thoughts
of why we married, your
voice will touch me
softly on the cheek.
Come evening, your hand
will fold safely into mine,
your eyes will bedazzle
the autumn fire, your
lips will shine wet
with an after dinner chablis.
There's nothing left to say,
except I love you, no matter
how many times I've told
you this before.
