June

June

Spring’s clearance sale
reduces everything for 90%
off the list price. Summer's
middle child waits by the back
door for the stock to be liquidated.
“When was the last time
you saw a blackbird in June?”
it asks. The skies are dizzy
with swifts. A congregation
of foxgloves, vulpine–curious,
consoles those missing
the memories of daffodils.
The trees are rolling up
their sleeves as the days
become longer than incoming
tides, the weather enough
to make your feet lift off the ground.
