On This Spring Day
A river riots through my yard
The once-dry stream rushes
with seasonal wrath
a water dug trench
deeply carved cleft
spends a life force
trying to cheat
this high desert
I sip herbal tea
as serpent surges
with sound of fury
floods my land-locked
reverence for all
things in transition
I am reminded then
that even eons of rock
are changed by water
